Together with colleagues from the energy efficiency and art and design communities, I recently joined a committee organizing a video contest called The Art of Symbiosis – Everyday Choices for Sustainability.
The project invites students, faculty, and staff on California college campuses to share their stories about the ideas, people, projects, technologies, and ways of living that could shift our direction toward a more positive future and to make the greater community aware of the ripple effect of daily choices. This could be any daily choice made, from lighting (a personal favorite of mine, of course) to water use, to transportation decisions. We selected a video contest because we believe it is an affordable and effective method to share these visions.
Through short video submissions, we are seeking the voices of campus communities to inspire awareness and catalyze choices. Videos can be up to 2 minutes in length. Feel free to upload up to three (3) entries per group or individual.
The juried contest will be presented through the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference at California State University, Long Beach, July 10-12, 2011. Prizes will be awarded.
For details on the contest visit: http:// cahigheredusustainability.org/ program/videocontest.asp
Please circulate this email and enclosure freely and I hope you will consider participating. This contest is an effort to bring creative expression and personal stories about sustainable living to the 10th annual California Higher Education Sustainability Conference and to the greater community, something I feel is worthwhile.
Grab your iPhone, Flip Video, or video camera and make something.
Best regards,
Kelly
